Hi friends!
Here's my interesting PMF story:
Four months ago I have launched the ChatGPT plugin version of AskYourDatabase, which has already helped 300+ CEO/CTO of small startups to get data insights from their SQL/NoSQL databases without asking developers. MRR keeps growing well, this is my first profitable project, lol.
But exposing db credentials to ChatGPT and let our server to connect user's db is a really common privacy concern which is preventing people to use AYD in a more formal way. After deeply understood my clients concerns, I made a desktop version to provide enterprise-grade security.
We have also made other killing features based on tons of user feedbacks:
1. Out-of-the-box data analysis and visualization.
2. Easily handle large databases with over hundreds/thousands of tables, which behaves poorly for plugin version.
3. Integrate with Excel, and you could download data and open in excel, works as a great combo with your existing tool.
Hope you enjoy it and feel free to give me feedback!

so with this version as a Desktop version, are you still sending the database meta information back to ChatGPT or the data will always stay on the same machine? I am trying to understand if my database is being transferred even from the embeddings perspective back to OpenAI? #Curious
@mayur_patil21 Yeah you need to connect OpenAI service to make things work, and we'll indeed embed part of your schemas into the cha, but we ganrantees that your db credentials will send nowhere and keep your connections locally and privately. If you want your chat history private also, you may need ChatGPT enterprise, in which they don't use the ChatHistory to train their model. For my closed 300+ clients, they think not exposing the db credentials and connections is secure enough for a lot of small or middle company :) Would love to hear your thoughts.

Sounds very promising. The examples on the AYD homepage only show very basic queries. Can you please provide an example of a more complex scenario that requires querying multiple tables or a data warehouse where a analyst wants to drill through a data cube?
Very cool tool! Think a lot of companies who build their own dashboard could benefit from this. Huge market!

I would love to test this out, but when clicking the download desktop link, it just redirects to the home page.

I've been using variations of the plugin over time. I will say it's early days but it's the only ChatGPT plugin I have found tremendously useful.
In addition, I am betting not on the product today - while already useful - but the product in 3, 6, 9, 12 months from now. is responsive, iterates quickly, takes feedback.
For example, although the product was really useful the first time I used it immediately, I was concerned using the ChatGPT plugin created data custody issues. Now there's a desktop version. With the Assistants API now there are dreams of integrating these better analytics.
Great horse, even better jockey.
@dai_niu Amazing! Send me dm when you do please. 🙏 Really need that. Airtable doesn't like to expose their data online, so I cant chat with it in anyway atm 😅
