Apple Music on Mac can show Lossless but what is your Mac actually outputting?
Audex Trace shows:
the actual playback format
bit depth and sample rate
your Mac output sample rate
whether playback and output are matched
upcoming queue quality estimates
There s also a free Compatibility Check, so you can test detection on your Mac before buying.

Idea: If the music is not of good quality, the tool could recommend a better-quality song (or sample of that song) – like remastered versions.

Thanks for checking it out, Nika, I really like that idea.
Since Trace already looks ahead at the queue and estimates quality, surfacing a “better-quality version may exist” suggestion could fit really well.
I’d likely start with recommendations rather than automatic switching, but this is definitely something I’d like to explore.
Audex Trace
@busmark_w_nika It’s in 1.3. Trace can now surface higher-quality versions and alternate releases for the track you’re playing, as suggestions rather than switching automatically. Thanks again for the idea.

Quick update: I refreshed the Audex Trace landing page and guide to make the Apple Music sample-rate mismatch problem clearer.
The $19.99 launch price ends at the end of June, then Pro becomes $29.99.
The free Compatibility Check is still available, so you can test detection on your Mac before buying.
