Beat AI launches tomorrow, and I d love to hear from people who take photos with a phone or camera.
The beta pairs a daily photography theme with AI artwork created for the same brief. People can enter an original photograph, and approved entries take part in blind matchups: you vote on the images before the labels are revealed. Each dated challenge stays open for seven days.
For you, what would make this a useful creative habit: unusual themes, a stronger reason to try a new technique, seeing different interpretations of the same scene, or something else?
You can try the beta at https://beatai.co.uk/. It s early, so voting depends on entries being available. Honest feedback on the first-time experience would be especially helpful.
Can your phone beat AI?
Choose an open theme at https://beatai.co.uk/. Take one original photo, tap “Take a photo and enter”, then sign in. Your photo faces an AI image; people vote.
Free beta · Photos public · Seven days to enter each challenge.
What stopped you from entering your first photo?
Launch-day resource update: there is now a free Photography Notebook with a contact-sheet exercise, a three-question composition quiz and a seven-session journal for private practice.
The journal lets you record one changed choice, one observation and one next attempt. No streak or public upload is required for these exercises.

The new 2:36 guided photo-selection lesson also has English captions:
The live beta remains separate: follow the dated brief, enter an original photograph and vote on the images before labels are revealed. Feedback on the first-time experience is welcome—was it clear how to find a theme, enter and vote?
A small practice resource for anyone trying the beta: the free pack has 12 prompts, a printable landscape worksheet and six illustrated field cards. Use any phone or camera and compare your own photographs.

Five-minute guided workout:
These exercises are separate from the dated competitions. Which kind of prompt helps you most: a specific subject, a technique to try, or an open theme?
New today: One mug, three moods — a free 55-second photographic window-light lesson. Each front, side and back light example stays for about twelve seconds, with large text and pause controls. A two-page printable guide gives you space to record your own observations.
Try it with any phone or camera: https://beatai.co.uk/photography-lessons#photographic-window-light
The visual examples are AI-generated illustrations, not real competition entries or a controlled camera experiment. No sign-in is needed for the practice lesson.
Is the new pacing and text placement comfortable to follow on your screen?
