The last 2 years haven’t just been challenging from an economic perspective, but also from my personal life perspective. My mental health took a big toll about 2.5 years ago, and triggers were literally easy to come by which led me to having less control. That didn’t just impact me emotionally and physically but also impacted my relationships with family and friends. I read a lot of articles, talked to a lot of folks, joined communities, and that helped me get a whole different perspective on things. If you ask me today how I feel, I would definitely say much better than I would have been before. I now put myself and my well-being first before anything. Having said all that, I finally decided to take my mental health as a reason to dabble with the idea of an app called “BeYou: Just let it out”. I know you would ask when there are so many other apps out there, why another one that would pretty much do the same thing? What differentiates BeYou is….It’s without the fluff of features or anything and everything. It’s literally all about you! I just want to come in and add my feelings as many times a day as I want to with an emoji, especially when I feel triggered or when I want to say something out loud but shouldn’t because I know how it would impact my direct relationships and specifically my wellbeing. More than anything, what’s important is understanding and recognizing your feelings. With the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy for us to forget how we feel, and once those feelings start piling up, that’s when we blow up, as you may already know, it’s not the best feeling in life. It’s really important to attend to our feelings and recognize when things go wrong, take a pause, breathe in and out, and restart. And with BeYou, the idea is to recognize and log those feelings to recognize and restart. The app is built upon the idea of it being only about you, there is no community aspect to it, and your feelings stay private to you. You can view all your feelings via a log and delete them whenever you need to (which I know can’t do with an actual physical diary or without killing trees). Privacy is the top priority for me especially when it comes to mental health, and hence, the data stays secure and private to you.
