About six years ago, I set out to apply machine learning to a real-world challenge—controlling a robotic arm with brain signals. However, I quickly realized that the available BCI devices were either too expensive, lacked quality, or weren’t open-source. Instead of waiting for the perfect tool, I decided to build one myself.
That’s how PiEEG was born—an affordable, open-source brain-computer interface for EEG signal acquisition, powered by a Raspberry Pi. It enabled real-time brain signal analysis, data processing, and machine learning applications, making neuroscience research accessible to anyone.
