@rrhoover thanks! Let me know how your first call goes. 💪
On the website (what callfrank.org looks like after some use: http://imgur.com/N7gKkoz). Been working on a feature that periodically brings to light back old recordings, but really, nearly all the value comes from capturing.
Nope. Ain't nobody got time for that.
@davidchouinard I disagree that all the value comes from capturing, would love access to the journals for reflection (preferably in text).
Maybe an idea for a future up sell? I'd definitely pay to have a journal that was super easy to keep/re-read.
Also, I ramble, I might like >60sec options. 😄
Great idea!
@tylerwillis Yes, possibly. Frank can periodically text you old recordings (transcribed) — that functionality is currently disabled, I didn't find myself using it much. How would you see yourself looking back on the journal?
@davidchouinard personally, I'd like to look back periodically (1x/week?) and get a feel for my week. I'd also love a type of archive (maybe a searchable history of transcripts?). The last part may be overkill - I'm a bit of a digital hoarder - but I'd use it.
@tylerwillis The archive is definitely in the works: it's currently just a list on callfrank.org, but eventually would have search tools, filters, etc.
Would you like a weekly newsletter summarizing that week? I really enjoy listening to older recordings: maybe a "this week last year" email?

@davidchouinard Great stuff! Loving the product, the UI, and the service so far. I'm assuming you're using twilio for this? How are you planning to cover the costs? I've been calling Frank back to reduce your cost! :P
this is brilliant. i fear we forget 90% of our lives. what an awesome tool for cataloging even the most basic days. agree with @paultomkinson here too. would be awesome to somehow be able to package this into a physical (or digital) product with the ability to add pictures/edit text perhaps? essentially it would take most of the hardwork out of journaling. great work.

Just had my first call. Super cool. Love the ease of journaling. Is there any secret sauce in your Speech to Text? Are you relying on a third-party?

@davidchouinard, I've been using this for a while and I'm loving it.
I am a big journaler and recorder of life. But one of the problems with writing in a journal is that your notepad doesn't fly across the room and tap you on the shoulder once a night. But your app does!
I can't wait for there to be more features. And I would definitely pay for a premium membership if it meant I could have some of the following features (in order of importance),
• a backup or way to download the messages (this is REALLY important to me. I'm very nervous about losing what I've recorded.)
• a way to extend the recording duration to 2, 3, ? minutes.
• a variety of questions like:
> > > 'Who impacted you most this week?'
> > > 'Who was your favorite teacher and why?'
> > > 'What have you been eating/cooking lately?'
> > > 'Are you working toward any big goal right now?'
> > > 'What's your earliest memory of where you grew up?'
> > > 'When you're gone what do you want all your remaining friends and family to know?'
etc. etc. because these questions can draw out from us a tremendous amount about ourselves that we and others might really enjoy listening to later. This feature can be toggled on or off.
• specific questions that relate to the day of the year. For US numbers:
> > > 'Did you April Fool anyone today?'
> > > 'Do you know any Veterans?'
• the ability to choose your own theme.
• I also love the idea already posted about getting an email saying 'Do you remember this day last week/month/year?'
• Your phone can call you at designated times and play week-old, month-old, year-old, or random messages! 'This is what you had to say one year ago today! [Recording plays.]'
Let me know if I can help you in any way. (I'm a graphic designer. ;) ) And thanks for all your hard work! I LOVE IT!

In his new book "Triggers", Marshall Goldsmith recommends asking yourself questions such as "Today, did I do my best to… ?" as a way to reflect on your day. He answers his own questions on a scale of 1 to 10 and can later look back on his week or month as a spreadsheet of values. Would be cool if you could speak a value and see it transcribed in a column matching up with your own daily questions. It would make it a lot easier to look at the aggregate results vs. trying to re-listen to individual recordings. It's supposedly a powerful way to affect positive change in your behavior as adding "did I do my best to…" at the beginning of the questions makes them more about your effort than about your environment.
