Hey hunters,
I'm Raul, the founder and curator of Calm Companies.
After over a decade in the tech industry, working at an employee monitoring startup and getting fired for trying to create a better work culture, I started looking for companies that prioritize productivity and work-life balance over hours worked.
Over the years, I've spent numerous hours researching and curating a list of companies that actually do this. And what I found is that there are only a handful of them. And interestingly enough, the smaller, profitable and bootstrapped a company is, the more likely it is to prioritize this.
Back in 2021, I found my first calm company. They had no meetings, no deadlines, and no full-time employees. And it was a game changer. Working just 4 hours a day, on my own terms, I became more productive, more creative, and genuinely happier. When I needed time off, I took it. No guilt, no permission required.
Things changed a lot since then, and now I'm on a journey to build my own calm company.
Hopefully, this tiny website can help you find your next dream job.

37 signals is the first thing on the list. And it's 5$/year. Good deal!

@dev_bomo haha! Yeah, they're basically the pioneers in this whole remote, summer hours, as few meetings as possible. They even wrote the "It Doesn't Have to Be Crazy at Work" book 😄

@raulonrails hehe. Getting away from the hustle culture. I'm curious if it's an age thing or just a general way of thinking. Not sure what I would have thought of moderation when just starting out. Or just generally of the idea that being away from something can lead to productive ideas or just rest making you more productive. I think it seemed too risky to me. Being left behind. Curious how people that are just now starting out are thinking.
Your story about the monitoring startup is the perfect 'Origin Story' for a product like this. In an era of AI-driven hustle noise, a human-curated filter for sustainable work is a massive service to the community.

A breath of fresh air in today's job market.
Also, $5 / year seems like a bargain for the added value.
@vtemian super happy to hear this! Thanks for checking it out.

I loooove the approach! Thanks a lot for putting this together!
This is purely amazing Raul! It's something that the world needs right now in times of high burnout rates and toxic workplaces.
Congrats on the launch, @raulonrails!
