CalPal turns a sentence into a working calculation sheet. Ask for a workshop agenda, an invoice, or a meeting across time zones, and you get named values you can edit: change one number and everything below it recomputes.
Times of day are real values, so an agenda re-plans when a session runs long. Timezones use real data, not a hardcoded offset. Units cancel, and ratios work: 16:9 of 1440 is 810.
Copy a sheet out with its answers, or share it as a page anyone can change.
"Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Siddarth, the maker behind CalPal.
I built this because I have a "Blank Page" problem. Whenever I try to plan a project or budget, I get stuck between a dumb calculator (no context) and a complex spreadsheet (too much friction).
CalPal is a literate calculator. You type notes, and it does the math inline.
What makes it different? It has a built-in BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) AI Assistant powered by Gemini. Stuck on a budget? Just ask: "Draft a launch plan for a SaaS app." The AI writes the line items; the calculator tallies the cost.
It’s free, private, and runs in your browser.
I’d love to hear what you think!"

Hello! Do you provide support for the artificial intelligence you use in the app at your own expense?
Very nice, congrats on the launch! Whenever I open Excel for a small MVP estimation, I feel like I'm using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, ukwim) CalPal looks like a sweet spot between a napkin sketch and a complex spreadsheet. The local-only data storage is a cherry on top fr. Do u have any plans to add variables so we can change one number at the top and see the whole story update automatically?

Our finance guy sends me these spreadsheets with 15 tabs just to show me one number. Last week I asked him "what's our burn rate if we add two more contractors" and he said "give me an hour." That should be a 30-second calculation with context. If CalPal lets you type that out in plain language and get the math inline without building a whole spreadsheet, that's a real use case right there.

@siddarth_kengadaran Brilliant solution to Blank Page Syndrome! The thought-to-execution model uniquely positioned between Excel's complexity and calculators' context loss. Timezone coordination, unit conversions, date arithmetic, and Gemini integration create a genuinely novel workflow for distributed teams handling budgets and planning. Asking "Plan a trip to Paris" naturally closes exploratory math. This is the missing piece between static sheets and dumb calculators.
Thanks, @kjosephabraham! You completely nailed the vision—we built this exactly because we felt that gap between 'too simple' calculators and 'too complex' spreadsheets. I'm really glad you caught the timezone and date arithmetic features; they are subtle but huge time-savers for distributed workflows. Appreciate the detailed feedback!

Interesting concept — love the notebook-style calculator approach. Nice work!

@gorkyed Its in BYOK model at the moment.
