Hi Product Hunt! I'm one of the creators of Caret. Caret is a Markdown editor that combines the aesthetics of prose editors with the productivity features of code editors - features like syntax assistance, multiple cursors, file manager, etc. It's based on a Markdown algorithm that I wrote a while back and open-sourced at https://github.com/erusev/parsedown. We've been working on Caret full-time for almost 2 years. We released version 1.0 about a year ago and today we're excited to show you version 2.0. Have I Been Sold?

Long time super-heavy user here, couldn't be happier. There's some features it could use, but the devs are very responsive to bug requests and advice ★★★★★

I've tried and used a barrage of Markdown editors and slowly but surely, Caret is edging toward becoming my number 1 choice for anything Markdown related. The team behind it simply strengthens this position given that bugs are resolved rather quickly and feature requests are considered, discussed and normal (when they make sense and possible), promptly implemented.

Things I like: 1. Git integration gutter - a useful feature, for visual reference. 2. Extend selection - This is something I like to use, although ideally, I would prefer to have vim selection abilities lol. 3. Multiple Selections Things I don't like 1. I'm not sold on the split-screen live preview feature that so many markdown editors seem to have subscribed. Markdown should be about focusing on the content, not the syntax - which is why I feel it's best to have an automatic preview on the same pane. Only when editing a line, should one need to view the syntax. 2. I am not a fan of the color schemes. I think this has some promise, but I will stick to Typora for now since it's a better choice for me.

Caret put me in very thought spot. Usually I use iA Writer for my serious markdown writing. But Caret handles code and table blocks a lot better.

Gorgeous interface and impressive functionality. Sublime-like title browser and command palette are really awesome, and I love how the preview window can be toggled on/off so quickly. Focus mode is super slick as well. Great job everyone!

Amazing editor, not only I've left the other MD editors for it but also OneNote for general note taking, almost. So many goodies in it!
