This is my first time meeting Charlie, and must say Brilliant app!
Curious: Is Charlie able to provide insights for a company rather than a specific person? Also, is there the ability to search for on demand insights, in the event of an unexpected meeting?
Very excited to start using this! Nice work.
@tycrollins Hmm, are you asking, if no one is coming to the meeting, can Charlie give you insights on the company you are meeting? What about the company are you interested in? We can make it happen.
We're working on building ondemand insights - it's one of our most requested features and would surely help with those unexpected meetings. Fingers crossed it'll be out soon!

@afrazin if a meeting is scheduled with say Yahoo!, company info is not as critical as they are well known, but with smaller companies it would be great to have a quick rundown of: leadership, any recent news, fundraising etc... Basically highlights similar info as with people. I'm not sure if others find this useful, but I sure would :)
@tycrollins@afrazin Co-signed about wanting more company information. Would be amazing if Charlie piped in this info from Crunchbase, Mattermark, or Owler.
@equartey@tycrollins We've got our own home built engine that pulls 1) company descriptions 2) breaking news 3) competitors and 4) a summary of the last 6 month worth of company announcements, handpicked by Charlie.
Any other insights you think are critical? What would you want us to pull from those sources?
Thanks guys!

@afrazin the more I explore, the more impressed I am. Company wise, the info provided is pretty solid. I know this is not meant to be a matter mark replacement, research wise, but I'd be keen to see a link to leadership of the company. (Leading to their profile of info). Possibly recent fundraising or backers. Mainly leadership though.
Additionally, what was the reason you nixed the LinkedIn API? (Just curious)
Cheers!
CEO of Charlie here. The new iPhone app truly resembles a personal assistant that can save the day when you're about to meet someone important. Minutes before any meeting in your phones calendar, Charlie briefs you with key facts on the people you're about to see.
If any of you want to see what Charlie finds about you, comment here and I'll show you what Charlie finds!
Cheers,

@afrazin Is it possible to connect more than one calendar? I have a calendar that's tied to my work email and another tied to my personal email address.
@equartey Absolutely. On the iPhone version of the app, it syncs with all calendars on your phone, so even if you have 10 calendars it will work with all 10. However, on the web version of the app, we currently only support one calendar, so I'd suggest using the iPhone version!
Cheers,
Aaron
@joostschuur Aw man, Thanks for pointing that out Joost. For full clarity to everybody else: We sent a mini chat message to users saying "Sorry to interrupt, but if you love us - we'd love your support on ProductHunt." We linked to the PH homepage. Those users had no incentive to vote for us, they gained nothing from doing it, and only voted if they loved us. Promise. I want to be fully transparent and I've also gone ahead and taken the message down before it reaches anyone else.

@afrazin Thanks for the honesty. FWIW, I kind of felt a bit like a jerk and a stickler for the rules after posting that ;) I didn't want to ruin the special occasion for you guys too much. Congrats on the success.
Just curious but how are you guys getting the information about the person? It says on the website that you guys comb through 100s of sources. Is linkedin one of them? If so, how do you guys circumvent Linkedin's protection against scraping?
@choi_kl We get information from many sources, and we built that engine from scratch over the past couple years. As for Linkedin, because we no longer use their API, we only show you the Linkedin Profile Page in the Charlie App. For other social networks, like twitter, we'll not only show you the full twitter profile, but we'll also analyze what they'e been talking about and infer their passions, hobbies, and common interests. Hope that helps!
I've been using Charlie for a while now. Literally has saved me days of research people/companies I'm about to meet with.
FYI: a great replacement if you were using Refresh.io since LinkedIn likes to acquire and shutdown products.
Have really enjoyed the service and the iOS app. Is there a way to force meetings to be included (and dossiers generated) if the meeting doesn't show up on a shared calendar or on my own calendar in the Charlie app? (p.s. using this gives me fond memories of Gist.)
Awesome product! It's amazing how much time everyday I spend looking up people in rappaportive + google, I've been looking for a replacement for Refresh.io for a while
