What's great

I've been using Clipto regularly for transcription, and overall I'm very happy with it. It works reliably, the interface is simple, and the transcription quality is consistently good. I especially appreciate that I can upload a recording and mostly just trust that it will do the job without having to fight with the tool.

What needs improvement

The biggest thing I'm missing is bulk uploading. When I have many recordings, uploading files one by one becomes unnecessarily time-consuming, so proper batch upload would make a big difference.

And, of course, I wouldn't complain about a slightly lower price 😄 But overall, these are relatively small issues — the service itself is very solid and I genuinely like using it.

vs Alternatives

I've tried a few other transcription tools, but I kept using Clipto because it feels straightforward and dependable. I don't need a complicated workflow — I mainly want good transcription, a clean interface, and something that works consistently. Clipto does that very well.

AI makes creating easy, but rediscovering past work is the real struggle. I have years of unused footage simply because I can't find what I need - and that's the problem Clipto actually solves for me.

What needs improvement

Faster processing for larger batch uploads and deeper integration with cloud storage (like Google Drive or Dropbox) would make the workflow even smoother. Adding more granular filtering options for search results would also be a great addition.

vs Alternatives

I tried organizing folders manually and tested a few basic transcription tools, but they still required too much manual tagging and searching. I chose Clipto because its semantic video search and automatic summaries actually understand the content inside the footage, making retrieval effortless.

I use Clipto mainly for transcribing and summarizing my video and audio content. The on-device AI transcription is a big plus, my files stay local instead of getting uploaded somewhere else. The built-in recorder and downloader mean I don't need 2-3 separate apps anymore, and the SRT export saves me a ton of time when I need subtitles.

What needs improvement

Would love faster processing on longer recordings, and a few more export format options beyond SRT. Small stuff though, doesn't take away from how solid the core experience is.

vs Alternatives

I looked at a couple of other transcription and screen recording tools first. Most made you juggle several separate apps for recording, transcribing, and exporting. Clipto does it all in one place, and the on-device transcription means my files aren't getting uploaded somewhere I don't control.

What's great

I'm a paying Pro user. The core reason I subscribed — transcribing from a URL — has been broken on my account since July 28, 2026.

One public YouTube link, pasted by hand into their "Transcribe file on the Internet" form, gets created, sits for 10–20 minutes at zero duration and zero file size, then fails with status 400 and errCode 10011, "online link lambda time out". A public Vimeo link fails the same way with errCode 10010. Local file upload still works fine, so it's their link download step.

Credit where it's due: the transcription itself is good. Accuracy holds up on accented and multilingual audio, speaker ID works, the editor is quick, and export covers TXT, DOCX and SRT. That's why I paid.

The support is what I'd actually warn people about. I opened a ticket on July 29 with error codes, timestamps and failing URLs. Eleven days and twelve replies later: no diagnosis, no ETA, no decision on the refund I asked for twice. Two replies asked for a screenshot, two more asked how I submitted the links, and the last two say it's with the technical team. There's also no status page and no incident notice, so you find out a core feature is down by watching your own tasks fail.

Fine for local files. If your workflow depends on URL import, know that it can go down for weeks with nobody able to tell you when it comes back.

What needs improvement

Three things, in order of how much they cost me.

A status page. Right now there's no way to tell a broken account from a broken service. I spent the first day retrying links and second-guessing my own setup because nothing anywhere said the link import was down. A public status page with incident history would have saved that day and most of the ticket.

Support that can say "we don't know." Eleven days of replies that are polite and empty is worse than one honest message saying the fix isn't scheduled. I'd have moved the workload on day two and stayed a customer for local files. Instead the ticket asked me the same two questions four times, and I still can't tell whether anyone has looked at the logs.

Error handling on link import. A task that sits at zero duration for 20 minutes and then dies with "online link lambda time out" tells the user nothing. Fail fast, say which stage broke, and don't charge a task against the account for a download that never started. Bulk re-run of failed tasks after an outage would help too — I have ~3,600 dead tasks that I'd have to resubmit by hand if it ever comes back.

What's great

Clipto completely won me over because it makes working with audio and video feel like total magic! I love how fast it generates summaries and subtitle files, and the fact that it does transcription right on my device means my data stays super safe without any annoying lag. Being able to record, download, search through video clips by concept, and automatically tag speakers all in one place saves me so much time!!

As someone with goldfish memory 🐠😭, semantic video search feels like such a lifesaver. I’m constantly remembering that I saw something useful but having absolutely no clue where 😂 Being able to search through videos by describing what I remember instead of remembering filenames is such a smart idea. The on-device AI angle is also a huge plus! Definitely excited to try this out.

What needs improvement

I’d love to see even more flexibility in how we search and filter results as the library grows. Other than that, I’m excited to try it and see how well the semantic search works with real-world recordings!

vs Alternatives

I considered a few tools for managing and finding content, but Clipto stood out because it brings so many things together in one place — transcription, summaries, downloading, and even voice/face recognition. I especially like that it can turn content I already have into something searchable and useful instead of making me jump between different tools.
