This fun weekend project got me excited about two things:
1/ Removing lawyers
Thanks to chatGPT I was able to generate a contract in minutes for free.
Angry lawyers might come and say that the contract has holes, but the reality is that selling templates for insane amounts of cash will soon be a thing of the past.
That makes me very happy. I've been burnt multiple times in my startup days by lawyers and their high fees to basically generate templates. Ask any YC company that had to do a "flip" — the amounts are ridiculous.
Good riddance!
2/ Removing the backend-frontend separation
To build this app I used a new technology called Electric (a Clojure dialect).
I remember discovering React in early 2014 and being very excited by this "rethinking best practices" mindset: the holy separation of concerns was brought to its knees. But this affected only the frontend part (your browser).
The backend-frontend separation has been an unquestionable aspect of web programming. Until Electric. We can now write frontend and backend code in the same file. No more pain passing messages back and forth.
Good riddance!
