Empower your team to write consistently great copy! Identify your tone of voice in minutes, then get the style guide to implement it across all your channels.
Hello! This is the first time I've hunted my own product 😬
I've been writing for startups for the last 10 years. Four years ago, I went freelance and noticed most startups don't have a style guide - a document that outlines the company's communication style. So before starting any work, I'd have to create a style guide for them. This was time-consuming and expensive for them.
Around this time last year, I wondered if I'd be able to standardise the process and create a tool that helped them identify their own tone of voice and generate a suitable style guide I could use. After much time researching, conducting user testing and grappling with ChatGPT to help me code (I can't code), it all came together and I launched CopyStyleGuide.com in July 2023.
Since then, I've had some great feedback from startup founders (and, interestingly, agency owners) who've found the guides helpful. I haven't done much promotion so I'm offering a Black Friday discount to get this 'out there' and see what people think.
I'll be checking back all weekend so please do leave any comments of feedback! Would be very grateful to hear your thoughts.
Thanks,
Oli

Congrats Oli this is brilliant 👏 I have worked with a lot of pre-seed and seed stage startups in the past and having consistent tone of voice and style is an area they have struggled with. (Especially if they outsource their content creation because they are not ready for someone in-house.)
Are there future plans to be able to generate guides in other languages apart from English?
@carolmoh Thanks Carol! Yes, that's an excellent example - I once hired a content agency to produce 20+ guides for our site and had to spend days editing them into our style. Valuable lesson learnt!
To be honest, I hadn't considered other languages. As a solo maker, I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible. But that's definitely something I'd look into if I received enough requests for - is it something you'd be interested in? If so, which language/s would be most useful?

Neat concept! Would be awesome to use this when starting out, then swap to a Copy-as-a-service type of thing one revenue is achieved.
Congrats on your first self-launch!!! 🚀
@esus Thank you! Yeah, this is definitely targeted at pre-seed stage startups to help boost consistency and credibility. My long-term 'mission' is to help startups communicate better, so there's plenty of scope to expand beyond style guides!

A huge well done @oli_west on getting the launch of CopyStyleGuide.com out into the world! This looks like a fantastic tool to help streamline the process of creating a copy style guide for startups.
Creating a copy style guide in minutes is a game-changer. CopyStyleGuide.com caught my attention! How do you see this tool improving your startup's messaging? Upvoted and looking forward to exploring CopyStyleGuide.com!
@anthony_green2 Thanks Anthony. Messaging is really important and something I work on with all my freelance clients. When I started this project, I wanted to include messaging but found it technically difficult (I'm not a coder). So I wasn't able to include it in this version. If you're already clear on your messaging, the style guide can help communicate it more effectively - it should resonate with your target audience better. I've been thinking of offering an add-on consultancy service to cover messaging and other bits, which I think is more likely than incorporating it into the product at this stage.
