Hi! I'm Salsa, a software engineer who has always wanted to learn the drums, and recently I finally started practicing!
One thing I kept wondering was whether I was actually counting the beats correctly. I could use a metronome, but I had no simple way to measure how consistent my counting really was.
So I built Counting Beat (countingbeat.com), a free tool that measures the timing between your taps and helps you see how accurate and consistent your beat counting is. It started as something I built for myself, but I thought it might help other beginners and musicians too.
Whether you're learning drums, another instrument, or just practicing rhythm, I'd love for you to give it a try.
I'd really appreciate any feedback or feature suggestions. Thanks for checking it out! :)

One thing that would make this way more useful for me is being able to hear a reference click track at different tempos so I can practice locking in against it. Right now I can measure my taps but I have nothing to actually tap along with. Adding an optional built-in metronome with adjustable BPM would turn this from a measurement tool into a real practice tool.

@kumsald3fn Thank you for your feedback! That's a great suggestion. The good news is that there's actually already a built-in metronome with adjustable BPM, you can find it at the bottom of the page 😊
I probably need to make it more visible since you missed it, so I really appreciate you pointing this out. Thanks again for trying the tool and sharing your thoughts!

Tried it on my phone and the timing feedback was surprisingly smooth. Wish it had a couple of preset tempo goals to work toward, but solid little practice tool.

@toprak4irg Thank you so much for trying it out and I'm glad to hear the timing feedback felt smooth on your phone!
Preset tempo goals are a great idea. I can definitely see how having a few built-in practice targets (like 60, 80, 100, or 120 BPM) would make it easier to jump in without having to set everything manually. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind for a future update!

This looks really handy for rhythm practice. One thing I'd love is the ability to set a custom tempo or tap along to a backing track instead of just running on its own beat. That way you could test how steady you are when playing with an actual song or metronome pattern.

@oktaydthl Thank you for your suggestion! 😊 You can actually set a custom tempo already using the built-in metronome at the bottom of the page, I probably need to make it more visible since it's easy to miss.
Tapping along to an actual backing track or song is a really interesting idea, though. That would definitely make practice feel more realistic, so I'll keep it in mind for a future update. Thanks again for the feedback!

Tried it for a couple minutes and was surprised how the timing graph instantly showed where my taps were drifting off beat, really helpful for working on consistency.

Tried it for a few minutes and honestly the timing feedback is super clear. Kind of wish i had this when i first started messing around with a metronome.
