Hi everyone! 👋
DeptBrain is an experimental tool that lets managers create department knowledge bases in JSON and generate personalized copies for each employee. You can then interact with them via AI chat powered by WebLLM using a Small Language Model.
A quick heads-up: the AI is still experimental and may not always reason correctly over the uploaded employee JSON files. I felt it was important to mention this because teams invest a lot of time onboarding new hires and teaching them how things work.
That said, it’s fully private, serverless, and free, and I would love your feedback.

The personalized copies for each employee sound really useful. Can roles and permissions be applied so that sensitive data is only visible to certain employees?

Yes! We can apply roles and permissions so that sensitive data is only visible to the right employees. Each personalized copy can be filtered based on an employee’s role or department, ensuring they see all relevant information while keeping sensitive content private. Only certain parts of the knowledge base are adjusted for the role itself, but it could be changed to accommodate other relevant points/data.
