Private AI Journal that helps you reflect. All data is stored on-device for maximum privacy. When using Apple Intelligence as the LLM, personal data never leaves your device. chatGPT, Gemini and Claude are running in the cloud, but will not store data or use it for training.

been seeing more and more local first hyper personal AI app and Dottie is for sure one of the most useful one I guess!

Congrats on the launch, Dottie team! Love the focus on privacy in journaling. As someone building in the storytelling space (LifeScript), I think giving people a safe space to reflect is huge. Upvoted!

@bjoern2000 @bjoern2000 Awesome, thanks Björn! I’d love to get your thoughts as someone who prioritized minimalist/private UX. I’ve just polished the UI a bit to enhance that dark 'studio' feel.
Good luck with the #1 spot this week - the way you handled the export functionality (JSON/Markdown) is a great lesson in user ownership!
Love the on-device approach — privacy-first is the right call for something as personal as a journal. Curious: how did you handle the balance between keeping everything local and still offering useful AI features? That's a trade-off I've been thinking about for my own iOS apps.
Congrats on the launch
Quick question , after today's Product Hunt traffic , how are you planning to build early user reviews and long-term credibility
Privacy-first journaling makes sense.
Quick question though - if someone uses ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude, the text still goes to the cloud for processing, right? Even if it’s not stored.
Might be worth adding a super clear “what leaves your device” explanation in-app. That’s the trust breaker.
congrats on the launch! I prefer handwriting journaling, but sometimes I can write down the ideas I get on the go or while travelling. so, Dottie can actually become a savior. thank you, will definitely try it out!

@yellow_yetti Thank you and great to hear. Let me know if you have a chance to check it out and have any feedback.
Interesting project. I’d add to the description that it’s launched in a PRIVATE or ISOLATED cloud. That would make it clearer for non-technical users.

@mykyta_semenov_ good suggestion! I am hosting the backend on Railway, need to check what privacy options they offer.
