Edoku is a calm visual twist on classic Sudoku. Instead of numbers, you solve each puzzle with little hand-drawn drawings. It comes with several illustrated packs, each made to give the game its own quiet, playful feeling.

👋 Hey, Anita here, dev behind Edoku.
Before I started working on Edoku, I spent a lot of time thinking about what to build. I wanted the idea to have potential, but I also wanted it to be something I could work on with real passion and care. I have a lot of favorite apps that inspired me, but to get to the point: I love puzzles and doodles. And that’s what Edoku is: a puzzle solved with drawings.
At the start, I played with different ideas around functionality and shapes. I didn’t want the app to feel generic or visually rough. Quite the opposite: I wanted to create something cozy and personal. That’s where the obsession with drawing each figure by hand came from. Not only the figures, by the way, but the icons too.
One of the main challenges was keeping the drawings enjoyable and fun without hurting readability, especially considering that I’m not a professional artist or designer. Sudoku is a scanning game, so unclear symbols would spoil the whole experience. The process evolved a lot around that balance: starting from a clean visual prototype, then slowly becoming more about hand-drawn packs, quiet interactions, cherished details, and all the small product decisions that make it feel like a finished, consistent app rather than just a random puzzle grid.
So, in short, Edoku is the result of building an app I play myself daily, with a lot of love and care. I hope others enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed building it!
Cheers,
