Hey Product Hunt! 👋🏻
Excited to introduce Emochi, a voice journal that turns your thoughts and feelings into a living “Mochi” character.
I’m hunting it for Cynthia, Mawuli, and their team. I love how it makes self-reflection feel approachable and creative.
I’ll let Cynthia share the story behind it below!
can you look back at older entries to see hoe your feelings have change over time?
Journaling has never been this fun! 🥹 I’ve had the opportunity to try Emochi early, and the mochi character is a super cute and helpful way to visualize my emotional day. I also like that the app helps me see trends and encourages me to journal more and be positive while also being accepting of what I may be feeling. Highly recommended!
@justinling thank you so much for being one of our early adopters!! Emochi is all about introspecting in a kind and gentle way. We’re so grateful for your support in helping Emochi grow, and we hope Emochi can continue to be a cute companion to witness your personal growth too 💛
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Cynthia, a doctor and researcher in psychiatry. With my co-founders Mawuli, Vanessa, and James, I built Emochi, a voice journal grounded in affective science.
As a doctor, I've always recommended journaling. Expressing our feelings helps us make sense of them (Pennebaker & Beall, 1986), and talking may work at least as well as writing (Esterling et al., 1994). But after a long shift, a blank page felt exhausting, and a 1–10 mood scale felt shallow.
Emochi is built on three ideas from research:
1️⃣ Naming emotions calms the noise. Putting feelings into words is linked to a calmer brain and body response (Lieberman et al., 2007).
2️⃣ Specifics help. People who can tell their emotions apart tend to regulate them more readily (Barrett et al., 2001).
3️⃣ Noticing matters. Regular mood check-ins boosted self-awareness in young people (Kauer et al., 2012). Emochi turns your entries into shapes so you can see your patterns.
Non-clinical, private, and judgment-free. Emochi supports your personal growth.
We'll be here all day reading your feedback! 💙
