It seems clear that Facebook is pushing harder into local contextualization & small businesses with this... They're enabling foursquare-esque features but taking it a step further by providing free beacons to businesses in the US.
Does this scare anyone? I'm not too concerned (yet) so long as they keep this info compartmentalized... the "nearby friends" is already somewhat creepy.
I bet @scobleizer will have thoughts on this one.
