Snapchat Monthly Actives - 300M
Instagram Monthly Actives - 600M (at least 300M people not reached by Snap)
Messenger Monthly Actives - >1bn (>700M people not reached by Snap)
WhatsApp Monthly Actives - >1bn (>700M people not reached by Snap - and worth noting that this subset is fairly disjoint with Messenger's 1bn)
Facebook Monthly Actives - 1.89bn (you get the point)
Most of the world is going to see Facebook/Messenger/WhatsApp/Instagram stories before they ever even hear of Snapchat.
Been waiting a while for this, makes a lot more sense than having stories inside Messenger (which felt a little bit like shouting in the street)
Will be interesting to try it out though and see how it stands up for making content compared to Snapchat as Messenger Day felt a bit jumpy with a few clips disappearing before upload.
Edit* Had some more thoughts on this just posted it up on Medium: https://medium.com/@russellbarna...
I was involved in the life of the pizza man in the corner with WhatsApp Stories. Now I will also see the stories of my primary school teacher on Facebook. Thank you.
I think social media of the future will not be connecting everybody, but creating a private space.

@Bentossell the battle has already culminated to a whole dirty level....
"...whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think whether or not they should" - This one is dope, benji :D :D :D

SnapChat is throwing party tonight. Facebook singlehandedly ruined their apps and pissed off all its users and SnapChat didn't even have to try lol

Anecdotal, but none of my friends use messenger day, and I doubt they will be using this. Obviously fb is dedicated to making messenger a standalone platform, but why not make "day" and "fb stories" the same. Might help with its uptake...
