FirstIgnite helps researchers connect with companies interested in funding or licensing their research. Researchers enter descriptions of their research and receive the companies and email addresses of those most interested in partnering.
?makers This looks really interesting. What would you say are some of the most consistent issues you've seen the scientific community face in getting their research into the market? How does FirstIgnite meet those needs?
@jakecrump The biggest challenge for the research community is finding a commercial partner. Research is done in the laboratory by individuals who plan to stay in the laboratory. If our researchers don't connect with a commercial partner, then the research will most likely not be able to make an impact. They used to wait all year to attend a conference in hopes of meeting the right person. We solve for this by making it really easy to identify and connect with the organizations and individuals who can support the research on the path to commercialization every day of the year.
Hello, Product Hunt!
Our goal at FirstIgnite is to speed up the pace at which scientific breakthroughs get to market. We do this by making it really easy to identify and connect with companies interested in your scientific research.
When we started this project a few years ago, it seemed like an impossible mission. Fast-forward 18 months and we’ve helped 20 universities connect with over 500 companies for feedback, funding, and licensing. This includes technologies like bioengineered organs, new drugs, and energy storage solutions; all of which have the potential to increase human longevity and planet sustainability.
Now, we’re launching our software publicly. Our users can upload any piece of scientific literature and receive a tailored list of companies and contacts to connect with. When you’re working with scientific research, sometimes you’re just one conversation away from changing the world, and we hope that more scientists and inventors will turn to our solution to start the conversations that will help them advance their research.
We want to thank our team who has been dedicated to our mission, as well as Gustaf and YC!
We hope you will share with any scientist, professor, inventor, or researcher that you know. We’re looking for feedback and guidance on what’s next.
Thank you,
@chase_bonhag & @codyp
@sarah_wright7 Thank you Sarah!! I think one of the coolest researchers we've been able to support was Dr. Esther Takeuchi, who invented the battery that powers the pacemakers in over 3M hearts around the world, as she looked to find her next big project! When we got the chance to work on projects like this, we really fell in love with the idea of what's possible.
Hi PH! Really excited to launch today. We build tools for the scientific community because although our team can’t cure cancer, our customers can, so we want to provide them with the tools necessary to get their research out of the laboratory and into the market.
