Hey Product Hunt Community 👋 I’m David and I’m the creator of Five Phrases 🦜. I built Five Phrases because I usually don't find the time to learn a new language (or just the basics of one) before I go on a trip. What usually happens is that I'm trying to learn a few phrases on my way there and then trying to juggle very basic conversations with the help of some notes, random websites and Google translate. Usually just to order a drink and some food or to ask for the wifi password. Exhausting. On one of these trips, having a chat with friends over a beer, we had the idea that knowing just a few (five) basic phrases in a language can make a huge difference. Back at home I started working on it on my weekends, added a few more phrases, worked on the translations for a couple of languages and finally got this ready for launch. 🇸🇦🇩🇪🇫🇷🇮🇹🇯🇵🇧🇷🇪🇸 7 languages - 4 categories - 5 phrases per category 💬 Audio Output - let the App do the talking 📖 Native text - Just show what you want to say 🧩 Customizable phrases - Get exactly what you want I hope Five Phrases will help you to have an even more enjoyable journey 😊

Hey, what a great idea! Often found this to be the most "stable" way of reaching a certain degree of language proficiency in different countries. Just learn some phrases by heart! Just because I am curious: are these phrases typical for every language or are these strictly practical questions made in each language? Will try out anyway tho

@peterwolfframm Thanks Peter! Great question! The phrases in this release are the same for every language (Except the local proverb you can find in Essentials Category of every language). There are only small differences like "Convenience Store" for Japanese and "Supermarket" for German. In future releases the phrases might get a stronger local flavour 🙂
