Maybe I'm missing something, but most beacons have a fairly short range and can easily be impacted by walls, people, etc. Using beacons for final landing places may make sense - but as general navigation it won't work in most environments. GPS works just fine, no?
@megerman Hey - very true. This was a hack of automating movements using parrot minidrones indoors. Definitely, short-range is the challenge with beacons - the lack of line of sight led to the fail on stage during the presentation. But it was still a fun hack to put together :)
Saw these guys doing plenty of cool stuff at the TC Hackathon over the weekend with their tiny little drone and Gimbal beacon. Unfortunately their live demo didn't take-off (pun intended) but it was pretty cool to see it in action before hand and seems like people could do some cool stuff with this
