An always-updated list of the best free AI tools, ranked by how generous the free option is. Every tool shows its kind of free (free plan, refilling credits, open source, your own API key or a 30+ day trial), what you get and the date we last checked. Browse by task or category, grab a $0 stack for a job (start a YouTube channel, launch a startup, build an MVP), or see our Pick of the week. No sign-up, and nobody can pay for rank.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Ankit, and I built Free AI For That.
I believe everyone should get to try AI for free. Most people learn these tools on a free plan: students, freelancers just starting out, small teams anywhere in the world. Paying first isn't realistic for most of them. Across our list, the cheapest paid plan is typically $15 a month. Try five tools that way and you're paying $75 a month before you know which one is worth it.
A lot of AI really is free. But "free" is also the most stretched word in AI, so we went through the fine print.
What we found
• We re-checked all 665 tools we listed against each maker's own pricing page and terms, and kept the exact quote behind every claim. 91 had to come off the list.
• 46 of them had AI only on paid plans: the free plan was the app without the AI.
• 13 weren't really AI tools, and 11 "free plans" turned out to be demos or developer-only tiers.
• We researched the 240 top-ranked free plans in depth. 38% don't say how much you get, and about 1 in 4 say they may train AI on your content.
• Only 90 of those 240 are generous enough for regular use. Most are fine for occasional use.
What's left is 574 tools you can actually use for free. Each one shows its kind of free (free plan, refilling credits, open source or your own API key), the real limits and the catch, and the date we last checked.
The rules we hold ourselves to
• Tools are ranked by how generous the free option is. Makers can apply for a clearly labelled sponsored spot, but nobody can pay for rank.
• Every tool page links to the vendor page we checked, so you can check us too.
• We don't say "no card needed" until we've signed up ourselves.
I'd love your help:
1. Which tool's free plan should we check next?
2. Found a limit that's out of date? Tell us and we'll re-check it.
