I have worked on a similar product idea which did ont go to market (could not find financing) a smart kitchen scale named : scalorie ! (it was doing this and much more... maybe too much features) - Going to market with such product is very expensive - I built the prototype and made sourcing in China, at the end of the day, w/o a min 1 million $ investment it was not possible to move on... we then decided to go on with a low tech product, coming soon ...

This would be way more useful if it told you "how" to recycle. It's immensely difficult to get a group of people who have different levels of recycling know-how to trash the same way. Cool idea nonetheless.
