George Tatakis shop: Greece in Black-and-White

👋 Hi everyone — I'm George Tatakis, the photographer behind this project. For the past 10 years, I’ve been travelling across Greece documenting cultural traditions, festivals, and regional costumes—before they disappear. The result is two major series: Ethos, focused on spontaneous rituals, and Caryatis, a more directed portrait project of women in traditional dress. Both are shot in high-contrast black and white. This shop is where you can collect signed, museum-quality prints from that archive. Each print is handmade in Greece and part of a limited edition. They’re not decorative pieces—I think of them as fragments of real cultural identity, preserved through photography. My work has been published in National Geographic, The New York Times, and Leica Fotografie International, and has received 22 international photography awards.
