Glyphy is a simple online tool that allows you to easily copy special characters & symbols (also known as glyphs) to your device's clipboard so that you can then paste them to any document or app you want.
I agree with the previous review. I have used your service for years, but your UX has become horrible with the new visual design. It's hard to FIND a lot of popular glyphs in your list. You can make the main screen like an old one but add a scroll to find new glyphs. Fckng hell...
Hey Andrew thanks for the review. I absolutely agree with you! Glyphy was acquired back in 2020, which I was very thankful for at the time, but their recent update has completely ruined it! Unfortunately I have no control over the site anymore :(
Yo this is actually awesome – I always google for glyphs such as bullet, trademark, etc. and end up having to go through at least a few sites before I find something copyable. This will become my new go-to resource 👌 How come I haven't though of it? 😅
I also love the look and branding, but the black characters on bright yellow background is a little straining to look at especially when you're looking for a particular icon and need to parse through a lot of them.
On that note, it might be helpful to group these somehow and increase spacing to make quickly finding whatever you're looking for easier. The trailing shadow, while pretty, is also a little slow and somewhat disorienting.
Finally a super neat feature would be the ability to quickly type the name of the glyph you're looking for and have the results filter down. I can envision landing on this page, immediately start typing "trad..." and have the trademark and registered trademark icons displayed, perhaps the topmost result highlighted and copied on enter.
@alekplay these are all great suggestions Aleksander! I will definitely note these all down. This was a small side project so it can’t take priority over my day job, but I will certainly consider all these very soon!
This is super useful, i would love to use it, but unfortunately it hurts my eyes for those big yellow color backgrounds. This could be improved, otherwise, great job man.
Hey Product Hunters 🤟 welcome to Gliphy, a fun little side project I designed and built during some downtime. It came out of a frustration of constantly needing to Google search things like "diagonal down arrow", "tick icon", etc. You simply find the glyph you're looking for and click/tap to copy it to your clipboard.
Yes there are other similar resources out there, but I wanted to create something that was super simple and easy to use. And yes on macOS you can access an entire unicode library, but it's not the easiest to use and sometimes I'm on my iPhone or iPad, or would just prefer to stay in Safari/Chrome.
It doesn't contain every possible glyph out there (yet!) - and I have purposely omitted some that you can easily access from your keyboard - however if you would like to see others added to the list let me know!
Features like sort and search may come in the future if I get enough interest 🙂
Great work, @caicardenas. Like you, I always google my glyphs but this went immediately into my bookmarks bar. I love the design and enjoy the work you do at Overlay.
Thanks for creating this. Down the road, I'd love to hear how effective Glyphy is in bringing you traffic, donations, and/or leads.
