Is data always that expensive in the US? $10 per GB up to 6GB (so $60 + $20 for calls and texts) up to 15GB where it slows. I pay €20 in Ireland for 20GB data per month with some calls/texts that I don't use.

@sammcallister Yes it is. You only get a decent deal here if you have 3 or 4 phones on the same plan. Plans for individuals are always expensive.

Love this (previously called Project Fi) and have been using it for >1.5 years. I travel interantionally a lot, so while the data plan might not be the cheapest for US only, it's extremly convenient and (also cheaper) if you travel internationally often. Plus, the user experience is unmatched by other US carriers. Really happy to see that it's now also compatible with other phones than Google/Nexus.

I've been a Fi subscriber for months and am totally happy with it. Cheaper than my t-mobile bill by a fair amount, more reliable because it uses both Sprint and TMobile networks domestically, they stop charging you for data after 6gb per month (so it's essentially unlimited), and it's full speed almost everywhere, internationally for free. Highly recommended.

I've been using Project Fi for over 2 years now. It's a good service, the app is clean and easy to use. Easy to reach customer support. I use it because I don't need unlimited plans, and this gives me more control over the data I spend. I can set limits to the plan, receive notifications when I am reaching my limit and also just turn off data once the limit has been reached. I'm usually connected to a wifi, so it works for me.

Even better now that they‘ve opened up the service to any unlocked phone.

Pros:

Reliable, predictable, works well overseas, good support.

Cons:

Not great if you’re a data hog.
