Power your AI projects, workflows and software with the spreadsheets you trust. GRID turns your spreadsheets into fast, scalable RESTful APIs to integrate Excel and Google Sheets business logic into your applications - no need to rewrite spreadsheets as code.

As a co-founder of GRID, and a backend developer, I'm super excited to hear what the Product Hunt community thinks of our new spreadsheet API offering! To give some background on why, we've worked for years on developing our feature-rich and high performance spreadsheet engine, guided by our belief that spreadsheets are an approachable and powerful development environment which has lacked a way to run its programs outside of the development environment itself.
We've already built one product on top of the technology, aimed at the spreadsheet experts themselves. This time however, we're building a product which should at least be equally appreciated by developers, especially (but not only) those looking to build any type of LLM/GPT solutions with calculation capabilities.
If any of you are also developers who have ever had to implement services for logic or models initially developed in spreadsheets, I'm sure you'll appreciate the possibility of keeping that logic where the domain experts can continue evolving it safely and efficiently.
It's still early days and we're super open to feedback in terms of the API/SDK design, examples or guides we should work on next, etc. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and tell us what you think, we'll really appreciate it!
I'd like to add that we’re doing our best to making the process for developers as seamless and enjoyable as possible. We're putting effort into making our docs and SDKs top-tier, so do give them a go — and don’t forget to tell us if there's anything you'd like to see.
The GRID Spreadsheet API and Calculator Studio products have both become quite handy in tackling automation and operational challenges for us. The Spreadsheet API opens up interesting possibilities for enhancing workflows with robust calculation models. For those delving into advanced automation and AI, it's definitely worth exploring.

@arni_gunnsteinsson : Thanks Árni. Workflow automation and AI agents combined with spreadsheet calculations are a killer-combo!
I love this and have been looking for some time. I train 100s of manufacturers in Canada how to go from 0>1 with AI and think this tool could be a perfect part of our introductory boot camp. I would love to meet and learn more!

@john_galbraith Thanks for the kind words. In our experience, manufacturing often relies heavily on spreadsheets. Sounds like you're talking to a group that might really make the most of our product. I would love to continue the conversation. Just dropped you a note via LinkedIn!

Hi all! I'm Gulli 👋 and I lead the development of GRID's spreadsheet engine.
We are very proud of what we've built: the world's most sophisticated independent spreadsheet engine, with broad function coverage and precise compatibility with both Excel and Google Sheets, performant and battle-tested on hundreds of thousands of real-world spreadsheets.
Now that we've opened up API access, you'll be able to integrate it with all manner of your own projects, such as using existing spreadsheet models in your software system without having to port the spreadsheet itself to code ... and bringing the precise calculations of spreadsheet models to bear in AI conversations. (LLMs are great but let's all agree the last thing they should be doing is calculating things themselves!)
I'm super excited to see the various things you will build with it, and very happy to take on any technical questions you have!
Congratulations on the launch, Grid team! I'm excited for the possibilities this unlocks. LLMs can start to truly interact with our spreadsheet calculations, beyond just interpreting flat data files.
