Why does it take 1-3 days to begin monitoring? What are you doing on the backend? My gut says you are using a private personal account to join the group, and then pulling in the posts via the Graph API authenticated as that user, which is against Facebooks TOS—so I hope not. Since there is no Facebook auth, this is further reinforcing the idea... Again, I hope not.
@jstrellner Hey Joel, we hear your concerns. That's not what we do at all. =) Also, you can not fetch content of groups through Graph API since months.

@mikerubini Not true, but you are confirming my suspicions that you're scraping the group by your statement. To do this correctly, you can use the graph API, but you have to get your app authorized by Facebook. Here's the docs: https://developers.facebook.com/...
@jstrellner I already told you, that's not what we do at all. To your point: sure, you can use Graph API if you have some special permissions but from my experience Facebook doesn't give them to anyone. I was talking about the general case here. And to my point, you didn't have to apply for permission months ago. So what I'm telling is true.
I don't like people suggesting that I am dishonest.

@mikerubini I am not trying to say you're being dishonest. It's just unclear what's going on here, and you haven't actually said what you're doing behind the scenes to access the data, and I—and most people—would want to be certain they are in the clear and above board. Even though the API used to be wide open and is now behind an approval process, my company has access to them, so I know that they allow access.
@jstrellner I respect that. I'm not saying what I do behind the scenes because I don't want to help my competitors. I'm ok if people do not buy for that reason, though. It's ok 👍🏻

@hipstartup We have since restructured our price to $10/group/month and you can start free. The free plan lets you track keywords on our own Facebook group, so you can do all the tests you need there.

This looks really interesting but you need to include a trial version of some sort, either for a limited amount of time or for only one keyword on one group. I am not going to pay $99 if I haven't made sure this thing works first.

We used to have a metered plan where users would just pay for notifications that were sent to them, but costs in the backend are too high for me right now.

@gkollias I agree with you. There needs to be a trial to see if this even works. I would never pay $100 up front for a tool I'm not sure even works. I see the others posting about the cost being high, and I would agree too. Give at least a 7 day trial or something so people can see the value.

Hey there, I like your product. I do agree w/ people who say the price is a bit high, but I don't think you should lower it. Rather I would set higher limits for the plan you offer (such as 5 keywords for 20 groups). Or I would create another plan at 49$ w/ only 1 keyword. Just some feedback, I think based on the number of reactions about pricing that you might convince more people by adjusting your plans.
Another thing I'm looking for currently is a more advanced search tool to FIND Facebook groups. Example : Facebook groups with at least 1000 members that contain the keyword "freelance" in the title and where the main language spoken is Spanish. Based on the research you did to build your tool, do you think this is doable ?

Find facebook groups: yes, definitely doable. I have a private tool that does that, already. Curious: why would you want to find Fb groups?

I was just thinking about this idea, but how do you get into closed groups ? What if the group is highly selective of who is accepted (e.g. group for paid members of specific app) ? Wouldn't it be easier to make an extension that user can run that automatically works with groups that user already has and monitors them ?
@rachitskiy We are able to do it. Yes, an extension would also work and I think there were solutions that did that in the past but now they don't work because of Fb changing stuff in the backend

This looks so cool. One of the things that has been holding me back from trying marketing via FB groups is the idea that it would take so much time to skim through the groups on a regular basis.
@jozacks Yeah, me too! That's exactly why I built this. Also, when you comment on relevant posts, you can promote your stuff and it will feel less spammy because you are actually trying to help.
I know the process is still a lot of work, but as Paul Graham says doing "things that do not scale" is the best way to grow especially at an early stage.

Looks really useful! With todays more or less free services like AWS Lambda, I'm surprised there's no limited free trial. You may be running some of these processes manually to get a gauge on traction which is fine but I think most people want to test before buying nowadays.
