Grooveshark suddenly shut down a few days ago but according to BGR someone that goes by the name of "Shark" apparently backed up 90% of the content (still working on the remaining 10%) and revived the ~8 year old service as Grooveshark.io.
EDIT: I should note that I don't condone piracy and encourage people to pay creators for making great stuff.
Starting to wonder if this isn't really them. Their DMCA page says:
>"It is vital to understand that Grooveshark.io has no control of the content you may access via links provided from the search engines. The content of links provided from Grooveshark.io is determined solely by other parties. These parties have no affiliation with Grooveshark.io and are alone responsible for the content of the files they place available for public download on the Internet. Before downloading any file, you understand that all the links provided by Grooveshark.io are all on other servers, and Grooveshark.io only have links to those servers."
So... they don't host content like they used to, or they're lying.
There is no way in hell this is the original GS team. They would have to be insane to jeopardize the settlement. I was a party on that case and am lucky to have gotten out alive. That said, it's not unreasonable to think someone saw this coming and ganked the code.
@nine_u DMN and Paul Resnikoff in particular have personal vendettas against Grooveshark. Nice objective reporting.

@alexvallorosi when a company drags you to court to get you to reveal the identity of anonymous commenters, i'd say that makes it personal.
i have no personal vendetta against them, but i can't say i'm a fan of companies that distribute illegal media because they didn't feel like licensing their content.
