I have 6470b running OS X Yosemite. These machines are really good for running OS X. From legal perspective if they are selling laptops to be hackintosh ready they should be fine. As long as they don't modify the dmg file with additional kexts. They are selling machines claiming to be OS X ready due to compatible components already installed along with building kit. A little different from Psystar.

I think the fact that it's just a laptop which has been vetted, and can be used to run Mac OS upon the user's discretion would be enough to get around whatever Apple's legal loopholes. That said, I would gladly pre-order one if it comes with more than just 8GB of RAM!

Just a quick comment on this as I dont think its been said yet but your website feels like you have lifted some of the assets off apples, also you have 100% copied their styling for presenting your product. Whether or not anyone likes or does not like this product its just another way that I would see Apple taking issue with this product, to offer it as a service is one thing, to copy their style and pass it off as different is quite another...

@imran_hussain1 Looks like it doesn't come with OS X installed, it's just a hardware 'kit' which might help get around the issue of not being licensed for OS X?

@chad_fullerton going by history, this doesn't make a difference to Apple. They have shut down such companies in past who sell hardware under the disguise of cheaper Macs which can run OS X.

All the negativity is really a shame. This is amazing.
@andmpel Andrew - yes, it's a real shame to see so much negativity; not something often associated with product hunt.
@daspianist : yep. lots of people may well be right about the legal side of things; the bigger shame is people thinking it's acceptable to call a project 'awful' or looking like 'shit'.

@daspianist@andmpel it's not really negativity when you have multiple precedents set by Apple in the past on how they deal with businesses trying to cash in on unofficial Macs.

Just curious, are there any options with GPU (NVIDIA)? That would be great vs available from Apple.
@jesse_hu great point. Oculus has said they'll build for Mac, once Apple starts shipping Macs with decent graphics cards :)

@_jacksmith@jesse_hu Super possible now that the Nvidia 10 series is available. I just bought an MSI Stealth that is thinner than my Macbook Retina and has a desktop grade GPU in it.
