Indeed! HumanCharger is an ipod size device with light emitting ear buds. And it helps minimize jet lag symptoms!
For more info, have a look to the attached clinical field study that was published on April 4th 2015 https://goo.gl/gChbUj
Getting yourself out in daylight helps trigger the hormonal cycle that will eventually make you sleepy at the appropriate nighttime hour. So if you carry a HumanCharger headset with you on long-haul trips, you will have access to light any time of the day when your body most needs it to beat jet lag! Does it make sense now?
There is a companion app that lets you know when to use it and it is very easy to hook it up with your TripIt profile, so you don’t need to re-enter your travel details again.
For questions about "Why the ears?", see the research that was linked to from their homepage: http://www.ingentaconnect.com/co...
Apparently, "Transcranial Bright Light" therapy through the ear canals is a thing.
I looked ag the Entrain app when we were developing the HumanCharger, and felt that we should make ours more practical and even simpler to follow. You can download the HumanCharger app free for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone. I'd love to hear back what you think of it. In particular if you're a Tripit user. Just use your imagination if you don't have the HumanCharger device yet.
Hi - maybe counterintuitive, the human body is light-sensitive in many parts in addition to the retina (of the eye), for many positive biological effects on us. No wonder, as we as species evolved under the sun. Many of the health effects of regular and adequate light have been understood decades ago and others have only recently become topics of research. Vitamin D metabolism for example is regulated by sunlight on the skin instead of the eye. That and the nature of vitamin D are quite new discoveties. The brain senses light on its own, too, even if it needs the eye for forming of pictures. Sheer presence of light triggers biological/hormonal reaction in nerve cells that affects for example the mood and circadian rhythm. HumanCharger's original inventors' idea was to combine this finding with conventional wisdom about chronobiology (the science of how and why our biological functions change with time of day), and to use light through ear cansl to trigger those functions for reducing and recovering from jet lag. What the recent clinical study that Idoia mentioned confirmed, was that the idea works really well in practice too.
