Saw this on @sachagreif's Sidebar.io email digest. Looks simple enough that even non-designers can use it to create beautiful icons.

Awesome! Took me a second to get it, but the process seems to be: 1) Find a font whose characters are icons/symbols 2) Play with size/rotation/color 3) Mix-n-match common icon styles from well-known platforms 4) Export to png

It looks awesome but I can't use it. It's crashing when I click on it on my Mac :(

Interesting. Worked for me just now. (Macbook Air, OS X Mavericks)
