InfiniDesk lets you go beyond a single desktop on Mac. It allows you to select between multiple "desktop views", each with its own own layout of files, folders, shortcuts and wallpaper.
New features in Version 2 (October 2025):
Classic Mode. Change the desktop view from the mac menu bar, and now set an optional wallpaper for each desktop view ( new). The desktop view is the same across all of your Spaces in Mission Control.
Follow Spaces Mode ( new). Pin a desktop view to each Space in Mission Control. When you select the Mission Control Space, the pinned desktop view shows!
French and German now supported in the app.

I’m a visual thinker, and I’ve always used my Mac desktop to keep my current files at my fingertips — laid out in a 2D pattern that my brain naturally remembers.
But as I started juggling more projects, my desktop inevitably became cluttered and overwhelming. I kept thinking: what if I could simply switch the desktop contents based on the project/task I’m working on?
Back in 2018, I built a rough command-line tool to do just that. And I ended up using it almost daily! I placed a git repo on my website and got really positive feedback from a small set of early users. ⏩ This year, after a career change, I finally made time to rebuild the app entirely from the ground up, and bring it to life as InfiniDesk, a safe and robust macOS menubar app ✨.

I have used this app (or the more crude-prototype-form of this app) since 2020 and I love how as a student I can keep some sort of distinction between subjects/ classes as well work and personal life. This app makes it even easier now to switch things around which is absolutely amazing for me. Great work Ben!
This is a VERY useful tool. I normally use multiple desktops, keeps loads of folders and files openned and the whole thing gets really messy and confusing. InfiniDesk bring order to the chaos and helps me focus straight away on the material I need to see in a context dependent manner. Great stuff!

@joey_zhu_seopage_ai Cheers, Joey. Yes, it's a surprisingly overlooked feature! Mission Control etc handles windows, but on Mac there was not a corresponding solution for desktop files (until now).
