An unofficial open-source 3D visualization of SpaceX: the live Starlink constellation, a record-breaking IPO, orbital AI, the Moon, and a self-sustaining Mars city.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
SpaceX listed on the Nasdaq today, the largest IPO in history. I wanted
to capture what that money is actually pointed at, so I built ipo2mars
and shipped it the same day.
What it is:
• A 3D atlas you can fly: click Earth, the Moon, Mars, or the Starship
in transit and the camera goes there. Earth has a real day/night
terminator with city lights, and there is a launch loop where the
booster comes back and lands on its flame: ipo2mars.com/atlas
• Every dot around Earth is a real Starlink satellite, propagated in
your browser from public CelesTrak orbital data.
• A Mars settlement simulator: set the fleet, get "self-sustaining by
YEAR". Every scenario is a shareable URL. My defaults say 2075.
The whole thing is one Cloudflare Worker plus React Three Fiber, fully
open source (MIT): github.com/Subcue/ipo2mars. Even the 3D models are
procedural Blender scripts, so one command regenerates the fleet.
Honest notes: distances are stage scale, the settlement model is a toy
with its assumptions on screen, and this is an unofficial fan project.
Not investment advice.
What should I build next: real-scale mode, Starlink coverage overlays,
or a Monte Carlo settlement model? Brutal feedback welcome.
