Jolly's mission is critical to helping independent workers take control of their careers, their reputation and hold employers accountable. It's amazing to finally see a network that will help us recover from the economic downturn in a manner that provides more respect and more transparency for gig workers. I can't wait to see this network grow and fulfill its mission.
Love the copy on the new website and I can’t wait to see Jolly in action not just in the US but around the world as well.
I’m curious to understand more about the industries you have in your pipeline and how you’re thinking about what sorts of freelancers can benefit the most from Jolly. Thanks and all the best!
@nikhiljoisr thanks for the questions!
Our 40,000+ users are mostly “front line” workers who do work out in the physical world, like drivers, servers, bartenders, cleaners, etc. But, increasingly, we’re seeing remote workers sign up too, like graphic designers, writers and programmers.
WRT industries: Businesses use Jolly in a similar manner to how they use UpWork, but without the big fees. Jolly is great for food-related businesses (warehousing, restaurants, grocery, delivery, etc.), SMBs like cleaning crews or security, and definitely Events as economies open back up.

I do enjoy and support this product as it starts to chip away at the highly subsidized marketing of exploitation of workers post-2008 recession. Worker education is fundamental to a healthy society and counteracting the "Professional" networks/echo chambers must be done to normalize worker rights (LinkedIn is a professional network that maintains and reinforces exploitative working norms for larger exploitative companies). My one recommendation, since this is a mutual effort, is to focus on Localizing the product for Post-COVID recovery.
If you see my ProductHunt comment history, it is incredible how many makers/hunters are illiterate in concepts surrounding worker protection/rights (some even lay the foundations for a techno-neo-feudalist employment structure), so I applaud your efforts here. Building products for community and recognizing the value of work are one in the same, except many people are afraid of getting into political theory (or feel proselytize) because being aware of your own exploitation isn't profitable for your employer/master. I'm writing about political, economic, cultural, and ecological literacies for Local development at my WIP researchfolio (https://www.ravibajnath.design/). Again, Local development (decentralization, subsidiarity, democratic, etc.) is key to making this stronger.
@ravi_bajnath thank you for your thoughtful comment and recommendation. It is certainly taken to heart. Although there's much more we can do, Jolly has a particular focus on the local, frontline independent workers who are keeping the world running during this pandemic. Specifically, for instacart, doordash, ubereats, etc. workers, we allow them to port their reputation data from their closed native systems onto their public Jolly profile. This data helps power our search algorithms for each service and city combination.
As we grow, we're focused on helping our independent worker community earn more and get better opportunities in an exploitation-free environment. It is incredibly motivating to hear that our mission and product resonate with someone as deep into this subject as you. We will check out your researchfolio and be in touch. Thank you!
P.S. I loved "many people are afraid of getting into political theory (or feel proselytize) because being aware of your own exploitation isn't profitable for your employer/master." have a great day!
@craigzingerline it's been a privilege to work on Jolly with you. Thanks for your kind words. To the moon!

So much yes here... the worker has always been the real hero of the on-demand economy story. It's your reputation, your labor and your investment that drives the platform forward. Great work team Jolly on putting the focus right where it belongs!
