It’s so incredible to see a product that bridges your daily individual choices to the bigger picture, and in doing so effectively addresses one of the key barriers for sustainable behavior change - the ability to transform awareness to action.
@parvathy_menon1 Thanks Parvathy! You nailed it. That's what our mission is centered around, individual action creates collective change. :)

I'm interested to see how this develops. I've been pitched this idea multiple times over the years and been skeptical about how products would get either a) accurate estimates or b) sufficient participation. Leaving aside b) for the smart people working on this product, leveraging the Plaid connection + industry-level estimates of emissions per $ is the best proxy for a) I've seen so far.
However, the estimates still feel loose though, e.g. I change the subcategory of a purchase and the amount of carbon changes a lot. On the other hand, no one really thinks Fitbit steps are accurate as a discrete measure, and perhaps that's not really the point – it's the long term trends that matter here rather than unit-level accuracy.
Overall I'm hopeful and excited to see how Joro evolves. In our household we have a goal to reduce our footprint, especially around online ordering and grocery shopping, so I'll be interested to track how we progress on that.
@rodrigo_davies completely agree with this - really appreciate your thoughtful reflection.
as you mentioned, i think getting super accurate is incredibly difficult, and maybe not the point. that said, joro does have to be accurate enough to drive decision-making in order to be useful.
i think that means we have to get more accurate on some of the more "general" purchases like online purchases and grocery shopping as you mentioned. some ideas there are maybe including the vendor name, location, or some prompted user input to make estimates better.
@rodrigo_davies Thanks. Any carbon footprint calculator is always going to be an estimation, but we're excited to get feedback from our users to help make it more and more accurate as time goes on.
Hi Product Hunt community! I'm Sanchali, Founder at Joro. I'm excited to share our app here for the first time.
We'd love your initial thoughts and feedback on the app - especially on your first experience and what you'd like to see next to keep you engaged with climate action.
We're busy working on new features for offsets and challenges in particular, and hope to get your feedback on those soon, too.
Few products out there give you a clear, concise picture of your emissions footprint, and actionable steps to reduce it. Joro does that, and has a community to help you follow through. They're just getting started, but love this app already.
@mj_coren Thanks for the positive feedback! Look forward to continuing to improve the platform in the coming months.

So glad Joro created an organized, user-friendly way to track and manage my CO2 output. It's also got an added benefit of making me more mindful of my spending since it shows you output by individual financial transaction.
@benhoffman_ thanks for your note and support! agree, it's about time we make something like this take off. hope we can create a way for people to take climate action from home this earth day!
