Why is this a subscription and not a one time purchase? I realize the business reason for this but I see this as a native app that I can save my canned replies and then use as needed. At this point I might as well save simplenotes or evernote and copy paste. The only convenience I get is having quicker access. I would pay once for the convenience but to charge subscription is a bit of a barrier. I already have so many subscriptions.
@kenrossi Thanks for asking. A lot of what we do is to help teams write better responses over time, and allow them to sync those replies across all their team members so everyone can use the repository of good responses when replying. This is extremely useful in a team setting where people get hands-on with engaging with external stakeholders often, and need to be accurate/precise in their replies.
So the subscription is more for the value of having a constantly-updated repository of replies amongst the team and maintaining that over time with support from KeyReply. Also we have a Mac app in the works for desktop use, and other improvements to replies as well. (The iOS app itself is free to use!)

@carylyne Ok. Maybe some messaging that states that. It looked as if I lose my ability to use it after 30 days from what it shows online. I think I get the model now it's more of an intercom.io 'esque response system but not exactly automated. This makes much more sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Very smart to make this as a keyboard. It makes the difference between me checking it out or immediately dismissing it because I don't need another tool to move to.

@spenceryang I'd be interested to hear about any plans to incorporate AI behavior now that Google has opened sourced their's. Also what you think your advantage is over something like TextExpander which could replicate a lot of this functionality albeit in a less organized way.
@itsthisjustin That's actually a really good question Justin. We are looking into incorporating AI behavior to improve reply quality for teams. At the moment, KeyReply works well with Inbox/ Smart Reply -
As for the immediate differentiation between Smart Reply by Google and KeyReply -
1) Smart Reply is great for saving 3-5 seconds per reply whereas KeyReply is better for longer responses saving 3-5 minutes per reply
2) When we speak to teams, the huge pain for teams is setting up the communications in a central repository. Different tools are taking their communications everywhere. Through the web UI/ mobile UI, we want to help our customers have everything in the same space, accessible everywhere. The focus will be thus on quality and consistency. We also offer consultation and service for paying customers.
3) Smart Reply by Google now works primarily for Inbox, KeyReply helps people on their WhatsApp, SMS, SalesforceIQ etc
As for the textexpander part, I think a little of each of the above points is really what it is. KeyReply can work for both decentralised teams with autonomous sales people or centralised support functions. :) We realised that the real value for custom templates and consistent communications is in teams - hope to continue validating this assumption going forward! @itsthisjustin Just to add on to the part on incorporating AI behavior - We're actually looking into the open source docs and the approach will be to improve the quality of replies based on statistical analyses and other parameters on top of the machine learning component. We take a bit of cue from Persado (https://www.producthunt.com/tech...) and also Narrative Science too, but focus on effectiveness of replies for teams and the applicability of replies across various channels.
This exacly what I need for my daily life. It sounds like a great tool for startups or any teams that have to send the same or very simmilar response to several people. It's cool how it just sits in your keyboard so you can easily paste your past messages anywhere you type :) Can't use it yet as I don't have iPhone. Are you planning on developing an android app?
@madidi707 Thanks! We definitely had the intention to make it as easy as possible for KeyReply to fit in your workflow - so to make sure that teams can get access to their responses everywhere, the keyboard is a logical way to go.
We are working an an Android app, so stay tuned for that very soon! We'll definitely keep you updated when it's available.
Congrats @spenceryang on the launch: looking forward to use this instead of the oldschool copy-paste the same replies from a spreadsheet on desktop! Will keep you posted on my experience of setting this up. I feel drastically lowering that barrier is key (no pun intended) to a broader adoption for this. :D

Congrats on the launch guys! More and more are we moving towards a mobile oriented lifestyle, doing tasks on the go. I spend around 660 hours each year commuting (roughly equivalent to the whole month of February – https://medium.com/keep-learning...) so tools like this that enable me to get work done whilst on the go are great. With the trend of mobile only going to continue tools like this will become more and more valuable. All the best with it!

We definitely see the rise of mobile work with more distributed teams, and also with more channels available for work (email, Slack, other chat apps, etc) it's important for teams to have a consistent repository of content they can draw on.
