I created my first (and only) resume with Kickresume, and it went really smooth. I didn't really know anything about the "unwritten" rules of writing a CV and Kickresume gives tips all throughout the process. What I really found useful is to create a section (like the profile for example) with AI first – so that I know how it's supposed to look like. I didn't end up using the text, but I did follow the structure and content. Same with work experience bullets. Then I just wrote my own, knowing how it should look like.
I also appreciate that you can create a custom resume section, so I did a whole section where I listed my newsletters along with the stats (like open rate, click rate..). I didn't see that with other resume tools.
I tried the Checker too – even though it's meant for an ATS check (which I didn't really need), it gave me some general formatting suggestions which can be useful for any resume.

What needs improvement

Some of the templates have a lot of pre-set white space. But you can adjust the font/spacing to able to fit the text on one page.

vs Alternatives

I saw that it has a Tailoring feature. So you can copy and paste a specific job ad and it "tailors" your resume to make it a good match for that job. Btw, it worked really well. Needed some editing, but it thought of things I didn't initially. Nice touch :)
Oh, and it's also cheaper than other resume writing tools...

Kickresume helped me get a job. And if that alone isn't an endorsement enough, I can add that the resume builder is very easy to use (this is the part I have most experience with), the resume templates are pretty customizable and look good, and the overall package is great value. I mean, most of these resume building apps are the same (I tested a bunch because that's what I like to do with my precious time) but I liked Kickresume the best. It had a lot to do with the fact that Kickresume was the only one where I didn't feel like they were trying to rip me off. They seem like a cool company and I like supporting cool companies. Overall, a great product for a fair price. 10/10 would recommend.

What needs improvement

I'd love to see more minimalistic templates. Also, while Kickresume's AI feels better than your average ChatGPT, it's still an AI. It can be helpful, just don't expect miracles.

vs Alternatives

Enhancv was my other top contender, but I liked Kickresume's templates a bit more. I couldn't stand Zety's user experience. Teal was good and seemed really powerful, but I a bit too complex for my taste. In the end, I wasn't willing to invest time into learning another complex software. It was the same thing with Canva - useful but it does too much and I only needed a resume, not another can-do-everything app.

I recently received a complimentary one-month subscription to Kickresume Premium, courtesy of a friend who is a quarterly subscriber. This "gift" is advertised as a perk for quarterly and yearly subscribers, granting recipients full access to Kickresume Premium features. However, my experience was marred by unexpected limitations. Despite activating my subscription within two days of receiving the invitation, I exhausted my allocated "AI credits" within five days. Upon contacting Kickresume support, I discovered that the gifted subscription has restricted AI usage, contrary to my initial understanding. Although I have access to other Premium features, the AI usage is severely restricted. This is particularly disappointing, as Kickresume bills itself as an AI-powered service. In reality, many of its key features, such as Career Coach and Job Interview Prep, rely heavily on AI-generated content. The limited AI usage renders these features virtually unusable, making it difficult to fully evaluate the service's effectiveness. I find it misleading that Kickresume does not clearly disclose these limitations, especially considering the prominent role AI plays in their marketing. Regrettably, neither the email notifications nor the website disclose these limitations. While Kickresume support provided me with 50 additional credits as a one-time courtesy, I remain concerned about the service's transparency and value proposition. Given my experience, I believe Kickresume's marketing practices may be misleading. I have expressed my concerns to the company, but their response was dismissive. As a result, I intend to file formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB), highlighting the deceptive advertising tactics employed by Kickresume. Prospective customers should be aware of these limitations and carefully evaluate Kickresume's terms and conditions before committing to a subscription.

Thanks for your feedback, and I’m sorry for the confusion. To clarify: every Premium subscription—paid or gifted—has a soft AI usage limit. This limit only exists to protect our app from bot abuse. 99% of users never reach it, and if someone does, they automatically receive a notification to contact us. When that happens, our support team is always happy to add more credits or lift the limit entirely—no questions asked.

Gifted Premium includes full access to Premium features, and the AI limit is the same safeguard applied to all Premium plans. Still, we understand how this could feel unclear, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

If you need more credits or want the limit lifted for the rest of your Premium period, just reach out and we’ll take care of it right away :)

Kickresume is a highly disappointing product. The UI of the app is poor. The workflows are limited and sloppy - it is not hard to lose data without realizing it. The worst though, is the AI "implementation." If you have used any other tool in the space, you'll feel like you've been taken advantage of the moment you attempt to use Kickresume's AI. Look elsewhere before you spend any money here,

I've been using Kickresume since college, back when it was just a simple resume and cover letter builder. Since then, they've added awesome new tools and AI features—no more writing career documents by hand, yay! They've also kept the same affordable price for years. I've tried other resume builders, but I always come back to Kickresume. It's awesome! 🫶

I love Kickresume . I am in digital marketing and most times have quickly put together a winning CV to share with my clients. I tried using Canva but it was too manual for me . Kick resume makes it seamless and gives me the sense of relief to know I am a button away from a killer CV.

Good for job hunt, I got through the ATS stuff with no problem usually and people were surprised over the quality of my resume, also used it for a rewrite not long ago, works great for me. Recommend
