@j_d I ordered all the kin products. The cans and both bottles. I’m a recovering alcoholic. When I drink kin products, I feel inebriated. And that scares me. So I looked up their ingredient list and see that addictive ingredients are included. I can’t risk my family, career and sobriety. Relapsing could cost me everything. I dumped all the cans and the 2 bottles down the drain and filled up my recycling bin. I think kin needs to be up front with the potentially addictive qualities of their beverages - even if they only contain small amounts of the addictive ingredients. They clearly don’t understand addiction. This could ruin the future and deeply impact the families of alcoholics in recovery who are unsuspecting and risk relapse by drinking kin.

@stacysmom Hi Stacy, thanks for sharing your story here. I know personally that recovery is a journey that takes up precious energy and a discernment that leaves no margin for error. I think tossing the product was a great idea if that was what was right for you in the moment and I'm happy to send you a refund. Your bliss is my business and I have absolutely zero interest in collecting hard earned money if you didn't love your Kin experience. I am curious which ingredients you're referring to when you say addictive? Kin contains 50 mg of caffeine per serving in High Rhode and Kin Spritz. This is the only known ingredient to cause withdrawals and adverse reaction in excess (more than 300 mg depending on the person). I'd love to be able to help, thank you!

This sounds pretty exciting, if the effects are on par with what's being shared here. My only concern is the phenibut, a drug usually available under prescription in Russia (but sold in a somewhat gray area) is a key ingredient. Phenibut helps with social anxiety and can give a sense of euphoria, which makes sense why it's in the Kin formula. However, doses as much as a few hundred mg can be addictive with regular consumption.

@michaelibrooks this is a very important point. Phenibut, citicholine, 5-thp and caffeine have strong effects at high doses. The beauty of drinks is the regulated consumption. A Kin drink has less than 150mg of Phenibut and we guide people to drink less than four in a day. We know how hard it is to make something that’s safe. That’s why we listen to our customers and constantly improve.

I ordered from this site on January 24th and received an email confirming my order. In the order was a link that said the product would ship sometime mid February. On February 6th I received and email that my product was shipped with a link to track shipping. When clicked, the link said my order was delivered January 31th. I did not receive this product. I contacted kin euphorics about the issue and have been directed to contact my post office about it's delivery and in general been given the runaround, without any hope of a reshipment and accurate delivery of any kind up to this point. I will complete this review once I have more data, but at this time, it seems that this company is promising a difficult product ( intoxication with no side effects ) and is not delivering a product once ordered.

sent bad shipping information on product and did not deliver a product ( as of yet, 3 weeks later), but still charged me

Matthew, I'm curious if your order was ever resolved to your satisfaction. I placed an order a month ago (with a confirmed commitment from Kin of shipping within 3 weeks), and it still has not shipped (now 4 weeks). When I inquired last week, I received an email from Jake apologizing for the shipping delay, and indicating that it will be shipped in the next 5 to 12 days. I'm hoping it does and that I receive it without running into the difficulties you experienced.

Mingling in the ingredients is 'Phenibut' (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ph...), a notably euphoric GABAergic sedative-anxiolytic not dissimilar to alcohol, but with only decades (vs millennia) of history of human consumption. It's a controlled substance in Australia, a prescription drug in Russia, and a widely used recreational drug everywhere else. Like any drug or medication, but especially of this category, it has known side-effects, a limited dose-response curve/overdose limit, cross-interactions with other drugs, and chronic consumption produces tolerance, dependance/addiction, and withdrawal. For these fairly mundane reasons, it seems like it would be appropriate for the product/website to be more upfront about the inclusion of Phenibut as an ingredient, and display *how much* it contains, so customers can practice safe/careful consumption.

@o5skuumh_ What’s up Linnea! You’ll be happy to learn that Kin no longer contains phenibut. We reformulated back in February with the goal of lowering caffeine and realized that without it the GABA could stand on its own. We agree that phenibut has notoriously been abused and hope that someone someday finds a way to incorporate this ingredient in a way the FDA can find a use for so folks can experience the benefits while knowing understanding the risks involved. We’re lucky we were able to share our original version with thousands of users with no adverse reaction but the next maker may not be so careful in their curation of the stack. Good looking out!

I am all for the exploration of alcohol alternatives, but the inclusion of Phenibut surprises, and worries, me. I would think that there are safer, better documented alternatives on the market that create similar outcomes, such as mushroom extracts or CBD.

@andreasduess thanks for the feedback Andreas! You'll be glad to hear our nightcap (formula 2) will feature a beautiful blend of reishi mushroom, passionflower, and melatonin. Our sweet spot is finding where eastern herbal applications meet western compounds to facilitate specific feelings (vs flavors) safely and with precision. Phenibut is certainly the most provocative of the bunch and it's great to see the discussion unfold here. We are confident we've dosed this appropriately and have seen great results with the synergistics of this ingredient, along with the buffer nutrients and adaptogens it is stacked against, with this precaution in mind. CBD was a schedule 1 drug at the time of our initial r&d and formulation of Kin High Rhode, and not the right tool for the job besides. @jenofkin have you got any feedback from people who don’t feel anything from CBD? I’ve tried a couple CBD beverages that promise some kind of feeling and to me it nothing but snake oil (maybe I’m just immune). Wondering if this is different.

I was so excited after reading a couple articles so I definitely ordered without really going through actual reviews or looking into this product apart from (what I now assume we're) "sponsored content" ... Apparently this product originally contained Phenibut and more caffeine (which even though I didn't know, I'm an adult and would have still used it) but that ingredient was removed (not sure why? But it is prescription or used as recreational drugs in other countries although the price did not drop). Assuming that these changes were the reason we had zero results from using Kin. There was four of us who try this product. Over the last week we have tried up to 6 oz at a time and no one felt any different. You would be better off getting some B12 drops or vitamins. Super bummed spent $50+ on a supplement drink :/ wish I had a better review
