Amazon's doubling down on what makes the Kindle unique (and optimal for book connoisseurs): readability. At $119, it's perfectly within my budget for my mom's birthday (sshhh, don't tell her).
Meanwhile, the Voyage still isn't available in Canada...are we to consider it an experiment rather than the actual global flagship? I mean this new Paperwhite is available in Canada from day 1, while there's still no sign of the Voyage even many months later.
@mostlymarius Go for this any day. The only awesome thing about the voyage was the 300ppi display which is now available in the Paperwhite at the same cost. I wouldn't go for Voyage just for page press buttons. Totally not worth it. Also, the PR team of Amazon, market Paperwhite as the best kindle ever.

@interpid16 I'm not really in the market—I'm a happy PW2 owner. I just recently reviewed the PW2 against the Kobo Aura H2O and would have liked to do a proper flagship comparison using the Voyage, but it seems that's not going to be possible. There's no doubt the PW3 is a better value than the Voyage, but I'm curious about what this means for the Voyage line in general.
To anyone thinking about buying one of these, and doesn't want to have to ziploc bag it like I do. You may want to consider buying through Waterfi http://www.producthunt.com/posts...
Not sure when they'll have the new one, maybe @gabrielhagstrom can say!
@benwtnb We're working on grabbing some now to waterproof. We should have a batch of these little wonders ready to swim a week after the broad release on amazon.
@benwtnb Possibly. We're wrapped up in development of a couple other ideas currently. Adding a second ereader to our product line is a bit farther down the list for now. If we keep getting requests tho.... :)

God dammit. I JUST bought the previous gen Paperwhite after buying a Touch a few months earlier and loving it. UGH.
I just bought the previous generation about a month ago and absolutely love it. It's actually helped me read more as I'm able to read in darkness on low light settings without having my eyes pop out of my head (like with an iPad Mini).
If you buy one of these and looking for some great fiction, I'd recommend grabbing The Martian and The Girl With All the Gifts.
@rustydingo Just finished The Martian last night, was a good read. I'm always up for a castaway read, but have to say his sense of humor never grew on me.
Really do love my kindle for low light too and know it's much better than an iPad, but as a flux user was wondering the other night if the color of the light matters at night too? May make a semi-orange tinted screen cover.

My Kindle Paperwhite is just about my favorite gadget—love its focus on doing just one thing well, and of course the battery life is amazing. Can't wait to get the Bookerly font update, though.
Will the Bookerly font be available for prev gen Paperwhite? Or are we not worthy?

@eyalyavor this is what I want to know, just got 2 in January (wife and myself) - and was wondering if anyone who has had a kindle longer can speak to if they get updates like this?
