@brady Hi Brady, you got the point! Knotes only supports connecting Kindle and syncing highlights and notes to your Mac for version 1.0.1. But I planned to add syncing through Kindle web service at version 1.1.0. It has a high priority in the development queue but also needs more time to polish.
@adambader Hi Adam, great question! Knotes will also sync highlights and notes form PDFs/Documents imported into your Kindle. I have tested PDFs and Instapaper newsletter documents. But for current version, Knotes only display highlights. In the next version update, notes will also be displayed in Knotes app.
@adambader The Cracking_The_Coding_Interview is a PDF imported:
Also the 3 Instapaper newsletters are imported through Instapaper's weekly delivery service.
@topaz_tee Hi Topaz, It's already in the plan!
It's my first Mac app and I'm not very familiar with Mac App Store's sandbox mechanism right now. So it's much easier to release the Non Mac App Store version at first. For now, Knotes is code signed with my developer certificates issued by Apple but not sanboxed. After I finished the details of working with sanbox, the Mac App Store version will be submitted soon!
Also, distribute outside Mac App Store enables me to provide free trial version for users!
So Knotes will be sold on both Mac App Store and our store in the future.
@samuelbeek Thanks Samuel! Appreciated for your praise. But because of the limitations of Kindle, I can only access clippings right now. However, we can imagine the general Kindle manager in case Amazon release APIs which enable third party developers to implement this in the future. Do you want to have all the features of current Kindle for Mac app at the general Kindle manager? Or which features do you want most?
