@anselm_k I often hear from my friends: "Apps should be free, I'm not paying for this!". That's fair - it's everyone choice and they don't have to pay for it. But of course if nobody pays it's impossible to create an app. If nobody pays, the Krautkopf app would never exist.
Why the higher price? Three reasons:
1. The app has a less broad appeal than FitMenCook, so we have to make the revenue we can from the audience we have. Keep in mind it was 2-3 months or recipe development and 2-3 months of app development (not to mention the 3 years we've put in to recipe apps already). None of that is free.
2. FitMenCook has additional in app purchases that can make additional revenue.
3. The other option is a free app with lots of advertising - we think that detracts from the experience and we're against advertisers being able to track our users behaviour
I'd invite you to consider the opinion that apps in general are a bargain. A recipe book is $20+ and will give you limited functionality.
I hope that perhaps helps a little bit to explain - thank you for sending the question.

@andreaskam No worries, as a developer I fully understand. I have no problem with paying. I just feel like as vegetarian I too often have to pay a little more for choosing no to keep damaging the environment , it is not fair even when taking into account the market size issue ☹️
@iliescualex thank you very much! It was a labour of love - the Krautkopf guys (Suzann & Yannic) have an amazing eye for detail, so it added a few challenges because we were using custom fonts (not for the faint hearted!).
