As a lifelong fan of strategic card-based word games, I have always loved the mechanics of Quiddler. But I wanted a version I could play instantly with friends or students online without any of the typical modern mobile game bloat - no mandatory accounts, no daily play limits, and zero ad breaks. LetterMash takes that classic, escalating 8-round card-drafting strategy and streamlines it into a fast, real-time browser challenge.
Love that you kept it pure without the usual mobile game nonsense. One thing that would really help: a built-in dictionary validation tool during gameplay so players can verify disputed words in real time without leaving the round. Could just be a quick toggle against a standard Scrabble word list so arguments dont slow down the pace.
@duran_ml51620 That is a spot-on suggestion, and you’ll be happy to hear that this is actually already fully built into the game! As you can see in the screenshot below, we have a dedicated "Check Words" button right at the centre of the action.
You play your hand and then click "Check Words" (or try to "Go Out & End Round") when you are ready. The system will then instantly run your groups against the dictionary to flag if they are legitimate (like the ✓ Valid! indicator for "ZAG" shown here), calculate your net score, and warn you of any loose cards.
the no-account, no-ads choice is honestly what makes this stand out, you basically just click and play which is kind of rare these days. love that you kept the escalating 8-round structure intact too
@memetj9cn Thanks a lot! Keeping that escalating 8-round structure was a non-negotiable for me. There is something so satisfying about the tension building as your hand size grows each round and the stakes get higher.
