@safaelmali Nice one bro, the cities touch is really cool.
Thanks Werner! Is there a city you’d like to see next?
@safaelmali Rotterdam / Pretoria :)
I’ve put Rotterdam and Pretoria on my list. I’d like to try both, though I’m not sure when I’ll get to them yet.
@safaelmali Sir, you are a GEM of a creator.
Love lofi music when working! The city aspect is a nice twist.
@ryangilbert Thanks Ryan!
I really like that the music is generated live in the browser instead of coming from a fixed playlist!
I work with music and often leave audio playing in the background while I write, so the free, no-account approach is especially appealing.
When the app works offline after the first visit, is the music still generated entirely locally, or are any musical assets cached during that first session?
Thanks Hidekazu! Yes, the music is composed and synthesized entirely on your device, including offline. The first visit caches the app and its music generation code, not a library of prerecorded tracks. Once that offline cache is ready, it can keep creating new music without an internet connection. You can also install it as a PWA and launch it from your home screen or desktop. Hope you enjoy it during your writing sessions!
tested this live, switching cities swapped the music instantly along with the key/bpm info shown at the bottom, and the live headcount ticked up while I was on the page, so this is genuinely doing something per-session, not just serving a cached loop. Web Audio synthesis instead of prerecorded tracks explains why it stays interesting after a few minutes instead of looping obviously. one honest note: the pixel-art scene itself rendered as a black rectangle for me, audio and the UI overlay worked the whole time though. might just be my setup, flagging it in case others hit it too
Glad you enjoyed the music, Gal! Which browser and device were you using? Did the scene stay black across all cities or just one? That’ll help me track it down.
@safaelmali Chrome on Mac. It was black across all the cities I tried, not just one - I switched between a few and the canvas stayed black every time while the audio and text overlay kept working fine. Could be something specific to how my browser session handles the canvas layer, happy to try again if you push a fix and let me know.
Thanks, Gal, that helps narrow it down. I’ll look into why the scene stays black in Chrome on Mac. Appreciate you offering to test it again.
I’ve added five new cities: Dubai, Madrid, Rome, Prague, and Munich! There are now 16 places to settle into. Which one should I add next? :)
Very very fun, addicted and usefull. Success!
