Podcast apps are slowly but surely becoming a saturated market, interested to see if paid subscription models can become the new norm for podcasts, I personally have no issue with paying a monthly fee for access to a library of podcasts so as long as new ones are being added

I listen a a few podcasts for developers but have never met anyone else that listens to them. I'm also a Guy Raz fan from his days doing TED Talks. I certainly don't see his podcast as a big enough draw to get me to pay a monthly fee. I don't see a big market for people willing to pay for podcasts.

I am excited to see that our podcast team launched an original show ANTHEM - the John Cameron Mitchell musical on Luminary Media. It's an absolute MUST show for podcast lovers.

This will be interesting to watch. Most services like Netflix, Spotify, HBO etc. charge for content that people are typically used to paying for. Most people that listen to podcasts are not used to paying to listen. I like to listen to podcasts and would subscribe if the service created great content that I could not get for free or through an existing service.

avid podcast listener - not making the switch. Time will tell if this was a good move for shows who make their titles exclusive, but given the saturation of the market, free pods will probably be satisfactory for most people.

This really bums me out. Not only are we at their mercy for the content, but we also have to use their product. I have a podcast player, with playlist and custom settings and I love it (Overcast). And seeing one of my favourite, if not my favourite, podcaster "Russell Brand" move to a pay wall is the killer blow. I'd happily support content produces for small amounts on things like Patreon, but I'm not paying a monthly sub to listen to one podcast :( Love you Russell.

A wonderful service that has a podcast on about anything that you can think of. It's great for on-the-go listening and enjoying just about any time of day. Love it!
