Maitri uses GPT-6 Astra to reason through ambiguous shopping requests from parents using WhatsApp. When commerce search returns uncertain or imperfect matches, Astra evaluates the candidates against the user's request and decides the safest next step: select a relevant result, recover a better match, ask for clarification, provide a search fallback, or reject unsuitable results. This helps turn a simple WhatsApp message such as “Order Amul milk 1 litre” into a useful next step without pretending an uncertain product is correct. Maitri keeps checkout and payment under the user's control.

👋 Hi Product Hunt! I’m Sahithi, the maker of Maitri. Maitri started from a simple observation: many everyday digital tasks are easy once you know which app to open and where to tap—but those same tasks can become frustrating for parents who are comfortable using WhatsApp but less comfortable navigating several different apps. I started wondering: what if the interface didn't have to be another app? What if it could simply be a WhatsApp conversation? That became Maitri. Today, you can message Maitri with an everyday request. Ask for groceries or household essentials and it can help find relevant products or store-search links for you to review. Connect Google Calendar and a message like “Remind me to go for a walk at 6 PM every day” can become a calendar reminder. We also built a family dashboard so family members can help with setup and follow request and reminder activity. One principle has been important while building this: Maitri should assist, not silently take control. For shopping, for example, Maitri helps you find the next step, but you review the product and complete the purchase yourself in the retailer's app. We're still early, and we're deliberately starting with a focused set of everyday tasks rather than pretending Maitri can do everything. I’d especially love feedback from anyone who has helped a parent or family member navigate digital services: What everyday task do they repeatedly ask you for help with?
