Hey PH! 👋 I'm Steve, solo dev behind Markini and the Rustini brand. I built Markini because I got frustrated with the state of markdown editors. Most are either Electron apps burning 300MB+ of RAM to render text, or they're SaaS tools that want $8-15/month for something that should run locally and stay out of your way. I write a lot of markdown. Docs, notes, READMEs, technical specs... and I wanted something that just launches instantly, looks clean, and doesn't phone home. That's it. That's the whole ask. So I built it on Tauri v2 with a Rust backend. The result is a 6.4MB (Windows, mac and linux are similar) installer that opens in under a second. GitHub Gist sync keeps things available across machines without needing a proprietary cloud layer. MathJax, Mermaid, CodeMirror 6, slash commands, split view, everything I actually use daily, nothing I don't. The pricing model is deliberate: $10 once ($15 will be the regular price after the early launch), no subscription. I believe dev tools can be profitable without holding your workflow hostage monthly. Markini is the first release under Rustini, a brand focused on small, fast, fairly-priced Rust utilities for developers. Would love your feedback.
