I built Mendel because I was frustrated with how social media slowly shifted from being intent-driven to algorithm-driven.
I’d open YouTube, X, or LinkedIn to learn something specific… and 20 minutes later, I’d realize I was consuming completely unrelated content. Not because I wanted to — but because the feed decided for me.
That’s when the idea clicked:
What if the feed adapted to my intent, instead of my attention?
While building Mendel, the approach evolved from a simple filter into a more thoughtful, privacy-first system where everything works locally and the user stays in control. No blocking, no tracking — just clarity.
